A New Beginning!

May 15, 2020

We are excited to announce that we will begin reopening Palace Casino Resort on Thursday, May 21 at 10 AM! This will be a gradual process with certain areas of the resort coming back at a later date. When we open, we will offer the entire casino floor with a whole new slot machine layout to ensure greater distancing. We have spaced them out to eliminate side by side gaming at slots for your safety. Table games will be limited to three players per table or three per side on craps.

Palace Buffet will still offer all of your favorites in each of our stations, but there will be a few changes in response to current times. We will have culinary staff at each station to plate and serve your choices to you. There will not be any self-service allowed in the buffet. Seating has also been removed to allow greater distance between tables. Palace Café & Bakery will feature grab and go sandwiches, salads, desserts, coffees and more. Our other restaurants will reopen at a later date.

The hotel will also open on Thursday with a few limitations. Every room will be completely cleaned and sanitized between guests, but daily housekeeping services will be limited on stay over days. PURE The Palace Spa & Fitness Center will remain closed to avoid direct contact. We will not offer valet parking, transportation for guests, room service or delivery of any food or beverage. Access to elevators, the business center and gift shop will be limited.

We believe our smoke free environment is more important than ever for everyone’s health and safety.

Cleanliness has become our primary focus and we will continue deep cleaning and sanitizing. There will be a dedicated Housekeeping staff to sanitize and disinfect each game following each observed gaming session. We will also suspend gaming activity in the casino between 3 AM and 8 AM every day to clean and disinfect surfaces.

When you return, you will notice several other changes in place for your safety. Social distancing will be highly encouraged and reminder signs will be prevalent. There are hand sanitizer stations throughout the property, on the casino floor and at each restaurant. Plexiglass shields are in place to ensure distance and protection for guests and our team members throughout the property. Our team members will get a temperature screening prior to starting each shift as we monitor their health. We will not host tournaments, parties or drawings that may generate a crowd and have canceled promotions previously scheduled for May. Please visit our website for details.

The Game Changed. So Have We!

We miss you and hope you and your family are in good health! The world has certainly changed since we last saw you. In light of everyone’s concern for health and safety, we have taken bold actions here at Palace Casino Resort to make changes, big and small, to keep you safer.

We took initiative in 2011 to open the first smoke free casino in the region. There was no question that we would do everything we could to continue to provide you with the healthiest option in response to the changing times.

We know cleanliness is paramount in everyone’s mind right now. We have spent time deep cleaning and sanitizing and will continue to do so. In fact, it’s so important to us that we have decided to stop and devote five hours to cleaning the casino each night, in addition to ongoing cleaning of slot machines and other surfaces throughout the day.

HERE IS A LIST OF WHAT WEHAVE CHANGED AT THE PALACE:

  • We have redesigned our entire slot layout to offer greater distancing and provide more separation. Slot machines have been arranged in a way that ­eliminates nearly ­every­ instance of side by side gaming. You will have more space ­between you and other players.
  • We will suspend gaming activity in the casino between 3 AM and 8 AM every day to clean and disinfect surfaces, including UV disinfection of gaming chips.
  • There will be a dedicated Housekeeping staff to sanitize and disinfect each game following each gaming session and to distribute disinfecting wipes.
  • There are hand sanitizer stations throughout the property, on the casino floor and at each restaurant.
  • We will install plexiglass shields to ensure distance and protection for guests and our team members throughout the property, including cashier locations in restaurants, the Sports & Race Book, Hotel Front Desk, and Player Services.
  • Staff entrances will include a temperature screening system.
  • PURE The Palace Spa & Fitness Center will remain closed to avoid direct contact.

We have missed you and our team members more than you know. As soon as we have an opening date, we will share that through social media, email and mailings. We are working with regulators and will certainly address any additional requirements they may have. We are prepared with additional measures for restaurant safety and will release those prior to opening.

There’s a real difference here at The Palace and we think you will love it. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Palace Casino Resort!

During these uncertain times, I wanted to reach out and assure you that we are working hard to make sure Palace Casino Resort earns your continued loyalty. The health and safety of our guests and team members are our top priority. We are using this time for deep cleaning, disinfecting and installing additional hand sanitizing stations. We encourage you to continue social distancing and good hand hygiene. We are complying with closure orders from the Mississippi Gaming Commission and will share our reopening date with you as soon as it’s safe and we have approval.

We are printing May offers now, based on play prior to our temporary closure. We are determined to stay on time with our mailings and offers. Your offers won’t change due to this closure and these will be available to you in May or as soon as it’s safe for us to open. Based on the reopening date, some of our promotions may be adjusted.

PRIME & PRIORITY Players Club tier points for this qualification period will be adjusted to remove the days we were closed. We will reduce the number of tier points required to achieve or maintain your status.

Palace Casino Resort Temporarily Suspends Casino Operations

In accordance with closure orders from the Mississippi Gaming Commission, Palace Casino Resort has temporarily suspended casino operations. The hotel, restaurants and entire resort are currently closed to the public.

The safety and wellbeing of our guests and Associates are our highest priority. Although it’s difficult to stop our normal routine of daily life and distance ourselves from others, it’s important to stay home at this time and reduce any possible spread of the virus.

We will continue to monitor and abide by federal and state guidelines, including the Mississippi Gaming Commission. Again, the health and safety of our customers and Associates are our top priority and we’re committed to doing our part.

Few projects are more intimate than hospitality design. After all, a hotel is a home away from home — a place to rest our weary bodies, and one that provides security when we are at our most vulnerable.

Just as universal as this concept is color as a language. No matter what dialect you speak, color will stir emotions the same way it does in someone else from halfway around the world.

Practically speaking, color is also one of the most visible elements of hotel interior design, which makes it a good place to start the discussion.

Popular Colors Used in Hotel Interior Design

While certain colors generally invoke the same reactions in most people, it’s still important to note that shade and saturation can drastically change their character.

As a rule of thumb, light colors are perceived as airy and make rooms feel brighter and more spacious. Dark colors, on the other hand, lend sophistication and intimacy.

Blues are some of the most universally liked colors: They are generally associated with calmness and serenity, and are therefore some of the best choices for bedrooms and bathrooms.

A good use of a periwinkle palette is a sunny room with large windows, as it can cool the heat and diffuse brightness.

Careful, though: If not balanced with other colors, it can evoke feelings of sadness.

Just as calming and restful is green, although it can also be exciting and refreshing at the same time. It conjures nature, youthfulness, and vibrancy.

Boutique hotels that target a younger audience have more recently started to incorporate verdant and leafy into their palettes. Green is also popular with spas, as these establishments usually come with the promise of renewal and rejuvenation; in other words, a return to youthfulness.

Yellow is bright and optimistic — a small pop in the form of a primrose accent or accessory is often enough to liven things up.

A pale shade on walls or the ceiling, or a saturated accent wall will have the same effect. The latter is especially effective for creating a work or conversation nook, as yellow is a stimulating color.

Pink is usually associated with femininity and girlishness. As an overall scheme, it lends an atmosphere of freshness, sweetness, and comfort.

Accents of hot pink or fuchsia add a touch of glamor and sophistication, especially when paired with metallics.

Speaking of sophistication: Purple brings it in spades. Large swathes of it create drama and opulence, perfect for rooms with high ceilings or lots of shiny surfaces. Can you spell baller?

On the other hand, lavender shades are immensely relaxing and sweet at the same time, which make them perfectly suited for bathrooms and spas.

Red, especially bright red, is an aggressive and stimulating color. If you’re using it for the bedroom, it’s best to keep it to a few accent pieces, or possibly an accent wall.

What’s a good area in which to use lots of red? Places where a lot of eating and conversation happen, like a dining area, conference room, living room suite, or any communal area.

Neutrals like white, black, gray, and brown are generally used as a backdrop or balancing element for more vivid centerpiece hues like red, yellow, and blue.

Earth tones like clay, sand, mushroom, and bark are relaxing and provide a sense of stability. However, they can be boring or outdated.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, metallics are giving way to neutrals. Pearlized, iridescent, and translucent colors will continue to infatuate, as “the human eye can absolutely not avoid” being intrigued by shimmers.

Pastels are also on their way out, to be replaced by intense colors.

The health trend is still going strong, and is in fact bleeding into interior design, as well. Verdant greens combined with berries and eggshell-blues are becoming more popular.

“People need to stop and smile,” says Eisman, which is why playful palettes are also on the rise. Canary yellow, lime popsicle, and bright purple is a good example. “Think Minions,” Eisman says.

Blue and orange, especially those in a flame, have always been a classically complimentary palette. It’s still in style, in fact, perfectly balancing cool and warm.

Tasteful, non-boring earthy palettes are an oxymoron, but also a very current trend. This is especially true for palettes that incorporate rosy hues.

Drama is still very much en vogue in hotel interior design. Deep, bold colors, accented with metals, evoke power, strength, and sophistication.
